Radio Veronica's "NORDERNEY" |
|
The Veronica ship Nordeney has had a long life largely separate from Radio Veronica. In the mid 80's it was anchored at the Amsterdam customs port, Entrepotdok next to Radio Paradijs ship Magda Maria which had lain there ever since it was being hijacked in 1981. Norderney was once converted into a disco and cafe and had a fake aerial mast and a new railing around the deck. The ship was later seen in the Port of Antwerp as a café but it has also been on several other ports in the Netherlands. A studio originating from Veronica's headquarters and the studio from the ship are now rebuilt out of the original parts at the museum Rock Art in Hoek van Holland and there has also been live broadcasts from that studio in recent years. |

We were not so happy when we saw that much of the equipment was vandalized. Our guide told us that it had occurred that parents had used their children as thieves, letting them down through the ship's portholes with the help of ropes, and then with the help of the ropes taking up goods from inside the ship. | |
The same studio recovered and rebuilt at the Museum RockArt Hoek van Holland. The clock is actually not the original, but an identical. photo Karl-Erik Stridh |
